The 124th Wimbledon Championships
Wimbledon 2010 is coming in late June (June 21 - July 4 2010) and the whole world will be watching the familiar faces of Rafael Nadal, Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters compete. The tournament will be played at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on a grass surface. Did you know that Slazenger has been the official ball of Wimbledon since 1902 and that there is no Court 13 in this year's tournament? Who knew tennis players were so superstitious! With nearly $20 million is prize money going to the players this year it's no wonder they aren't taking any chances. The official Patron of the tournament is Her Majesty The Queen of England and the President of The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is HRH The Duke of Kent. Some key dates to remember are June 18 (the official draw), July 3 (Ladies singles and doubles final and men's doubles final) and July 4 (Men's singles final). The defending singles champions are Roger Federer (men's) and Serena Williams (ladies).
