The 2009 version of the HEAD Extreme Team is very similar to the '08 version with the addition of Teflon friction reducing polymer to the grommets.

Head breaks new ground by injecting Teflon friction reducing polymer and provides the most innovative generation of grommets to date! This technology enables the strings to slide through the grommets with nearly no friction. The benefit? The friction reducing polymer dramatically reduces mechanical energy loss during ball impact and allows for greater string movement due to the low resistance, offering more power.

The Head MicroGel Extreme Team is a more-forgiving, shot friendlier version of the standard Head MicroGel Extreme with a larger 107 sq. in. headsize and lighter 10.1 oz. strung weight. Providing tour feel and control with added pop and maneuverability. HEAD's new patented technology called MicroGel, deforms and compresses upon ball impact, uniformly absorbing and distributing the impact load around the entire frame, creating a rock-solid feel while offering extra stability against twisting.

Another improvement Head has made with the new Extreme Team to traditional racquets is immediately visible: the geometrics of the racquet head size are changed making it wider and rounder. This increased width can allow the ball to slide across a wider stringbed, generating greater spin velocity and providing more power.

Ideally suited for players with moderate, powerful strokes. Recommended for the 3.0-4.5 NTRP level players.

MicroGEL Technology: MicroGEL is a revolutionary silicone based material with the lowest density of any solid known on the planet. This incredible "Super Material" weighs only about 3mg per cubic centimeter, but is able to support up to 4,000 times it's own weight. HEAD has combined MicroGEL with stiff and strong carbon composite fibers to create a racquet with incredible responsive qualities. On ball impact, HEAD MicroGEL uniformly distributes the impact load around the frame circumference providing a rock solid feel and unique touch that has to be experienced to be believed.
