With a new design for the Pure Aero in 2019, Babolat took an already amazing stick and improved upon it.
The rigid frame was softened up just a bit for more controllable power and Cortex Pure Feel dampening material was added to reduce unwanted shock and vibration. The grommet holes have also been elongated, which allows the strings to absorb some shock as well - as they have more room to move back upon ball impact.
It has ample power to blast winners from the baseline and comes with all the technologies a player is after in a spin-generating machine. They have enough plow-through and stability to redirect heavy pace, especially on returns. The FSI Spin Technology opens up the cross strings in the middle, allowing for greater bite on the ball, and thus, spin potential. The large sweetspot and more heft around the head make for solid volleys that require little effort, even with "put away" pace.
It plays best in the hands of advanced, attacking baseline players looking for spin-heavy, penetrating, deep shots.
New Pure Aero Technologies:
AEROMODULAR 3 - AERODYNAMIC FRAME: An aerodynamic frame shape at the throat, head, and shaft of the racket which reduces wind drag, resulting in greater swing speed and maneuverability. |
CARBON PLY STABILIZER TECHNOLOGY: A space-age carbon layer is embedded into the graphite profile of the frame in order to increase torsional stability and control. |
CORTEX PURE FEEL: A viscoelastic rubber layer is applied in between carbon layers, resulting in amazing vibration and shock absorption. The 2019 version moved it to 3 & 9 o'clock on the head, which increases ball "dwell time" on the strings, as well as the spin potential. The new sound made upon impact is addicting, and needs to be heard in order to truly appreciate it. |
FSI SPIN TECHNOLOGY: FSI, or Frame String Interaction, is a more open string spacing between cross strings #5 - #12, resulting in a greater "bite" on the ball. The grommets are oblong shaped (see image for reference), which allows the strings to move more and provide much greater snapback. The result is a substantial increase in Revolutions Per Second - aka SPIN! |
