Head Tennis Racquet Technology

Head Tennis Racquet Technology
HEAD tennis was one of the original racquet manufacturers to begin playing with frame composition and shape. Today, their Austrian based factory makes racquets to pro player’s exact specifications, then takes that technology and puts it in the hands of serious players around the world with their ever evolving lines of performance racquets.

Head tennis racquets and their technology have been seen in the hands of the world’s top players, from Andre Aggasi and Andy Murray, to the current No.1 ranked Novak Djokovic. The technological innovations implemented in Head tennis racquets have given these players the advantage they need to dominate all other players. Let that advantage help you in your game, too.

Frame Composition

Head tennis racquet technology - Graphene XT frame composition

Graphene XT
Graphene XT is the next generation of Graphene. This evolution of the original Graphene utilizes bigger platelets which allow for better bonding. The result is a racquet that is 20% lighter and 30% stronger, thus allowing for an even more optimal distribution of weight to the poles. Ultimately, by creating a racquet that accelerates more easily, and by putting more mass at the tip, closer to where modern ball strikers make contact, this technology gives the player easier access to power!

Graphene Technology
Graphene is an ultra-light and ultra-strong substance which is 200 times stronger than steel. Head places Graphene in the shaft so that weight can be redistributed to more functionally relevant areas of the handle and tip. This unique construction provides players with increased swing weight for more power with less effort.

YOUTEK Technology
YOUTEK™ combines superior technologies to perfectly match your individual needs. Whether your game is aggressive and adventurous or consistent and smooth, YOUTEK™ enhances your performance and brings out the best in you.

Liquidmetal Technology
Developed by the California Institute of Technology (CalTech), LiquidMetal® alloy provides 29% more power than Titanium. Just as its name implies, LiquidMetal® alloy is different from conventional materials because of its liquid (or “amorphous”) atomic structure. This means that LiquidMetal® alloy does not deform on impact, resulting in ultimate energy return.

Metallix Technology
Metallix frames feature a specially designed matrix of carbon fibers and a new crystalline metal alloy. The decreased grain size means increased performance, or, as the Hall-Petch Effect states: smaller grains = stronger material. The result is a lighter, stronger and more powerful racquet than ever before.

Head Tennis Racquet Technology - Microgel frame composition

Microgel Technology
When combined with carbon composite fibers in the racquet head, MicroGel deforms and compresses upon ball impact, uniformly absorbing and distributing the impact load around the entire frame. MicroGel creates a rock-solid feel and improved comfort while offering extra stability against twisting.

Shaft and Grip

Sony Smart Tennis Sensor
By attaching the Smart Sensor to your racquet, a detailed snapshot of your strokes will be displayed on your smartphone in real-time. Through the Smart Sensor’s dedicated app, you can check swing/shot type, ball speed, swing speed, ball spin, ball impact, and other important data about your each and every shot. All data is automatically saved and can be viewed later on your smartphone or tablet.

Head Tennis Racquet Technologies Stabilizer

Stabilizer Technology
The HEAD Stabilizer eliminates racquet vibration and ensures the ultimate in comfort on every shot. HEAD LMS By lowering the bridge section in a unique new throat design, HEAD’s LMS (Longer Main String) design creates a larger hitting surface without making the racquet any bigger. The player benefits from the larger sweet spot and better maneuverability.

Crossbow Technology
Head Tennis Racquet Technologies Crossbow crosssectionThe CrossBow design features a 2-piece racquet: the frame and the bridge. HEAD’s innovative new CrossBow technology maximizes energy for optimum power. On ball impact, the bridge flexes independently from the racquet frame, storing energy much like a bow being loaded.

Protect System
Head Tennis Racquet Technology Protect SystemThe unique combination of the leading racquet, grip and string technologies of HEAD reduces strain on the elbow and leads to significant alleviation of pain. HEAD’s patented Electronic Dampening System (EDS) is an active and electronically controlled system. High-tech piezoelectric fibers, which convert mechanical into electronic energy, are controlled by a microchip. HEAD’s EDS recognizes the dampening mode and electronically creates a canceling counter vibration. This reduces shock impact by more than 50% and residual vibrations twice as fast as in a conventional racquet period. This results in significantly reduced stress on the arm with each and every shot.

String Bed

Head Tennis Racquet Technologies Adaptive string pattern

Head Adaptive String Pattern (ASP)
Head’s Adaptive String Pattern allows the player to switch between a 16x16 and a 16x19 string pattern. This gives the player unprecedented control over the racquet’s response. The 16x19 string pattern offers a great balance of spin, precision, power and comfort. The 16x16 pattern increases the comfort, power and spin - and it allows the player to take advantage of a higher launch angle

Dynamic String Pattern
This Dynamic 16x19 String Pattern puts 8 mains in the heart of the racquet to provide the control of a tight string pattern with the spin and forgiveness of an open pattern.

Integrated String Dampener (ISD)
The ISD, affixed to the grommets at the base of the head, absorbs string vibration, making for a more arm friendly racquet, in all styles of play.

Head Tennis Racquet Technology - flexpoint

Flexpoint Technology
Powered by Liquidmetal®, Flexpoint™ technology is breaking the rules of traditional racquet design with two precisely engineered control holes … giving the racquet a revolutionary new flexpoint, which cups the ball and improves control without losing power. The racquet forms a ”cup” that surrounds the ball. Dwell time is increased and control is maximized. To visualize this, think of how your hand cups a ball. This cupping effect produces control like never before, with no loss of power. The patented HEAD Flexpoint technology breaks the rules of traditional racquet design by not making racquets stiffer, but by engineering them to flex in a new and revolutionary way.
